Cemberlitas Hammam Sultanahmet
Wife of Selim II and mother of Murat III, Nurbanu Sultan founded the bath to generate income for the Valide-i Atik Charity Complex in Toptasi, Uskudar. The bath was one of the buildings designed by architect Sinan in 1584, according to the Tuhfet’ül-mi’mârin.
The Cemberlitas Bath is situated among some of Istanbul’s most notable monuments on Sultanahmet Divanyolu Street’s Çemberlitas Square. It is close to the Vezirhan monument, which Constantine I built between 324 and 327. Directly across from the bath is the Köprülü Mahmud Pasa complex, which has a mosque, school, and tombs. The Vezir Han and the former university building are located next to it. The Atik Pasa Mosque and school, the Köprülü Library, the tomb of Ali Baba, and the mausoleum of Sultan Mahmut II with its treasury are all located close to the bath.
AT ENTRANCE…
When you have decided to bath in one of the world’s most authentic hamams, at Çemberlitaş Hamamı that has had it doors open since 1584, we meet you at the entrance. You choose the treatments you wish to have, receive your receipt and continue to the changing area.
After you have undressed and wrapped the “peştamal” (traditional cotton and silk bath wrap) around you, we kindly ask you to lock your locker, take your key with you and walk to the second room where the “göbek taşı” (central heated marble platform) is..
GÖBEK TAŞI AND SWEATING…
This room is called the “Sıcaklık” (hot room). In the centre sits the big heated marble platform and on the sides are the marble basins and bathing cubicles. We suggest that you rest, by either sitting or laying down, for a while on the marble platform for sweating.

If you wish to enjoy the Çemberlitaş Hamamı as it have been done for centuries and to feel as a sultan, after sweating leave yourself to the adept hands of our attendants.
We will give you an exquisite scrub and massage for 15 minutes; every cell of your body will start to breath, your blood circulation will speed up, you will loose the dead cells and re-vitalize. After the scrub and massage leave yourself to the masterful water and let our attendant wash you at the marble basin.

The magical clay mask is applied on your face and neck while relieving your skin of excess oil and dirt, it also helps your skin to regain its moisture, opens up and cleanses your pores and supports your skin to regain its tightness.
There is no time limit for bathing. Pouch & Soapy Massage is 15 minutes, aromatherapy oil massage is 30 minutes. The price includes towels, slippers, a locker with key, soap and shampoo.
